Description

I made this piece as I was turning seventy. Somewhere in that year, I kept feeling like everything was dripping away from me—the days, the certainties, the small things I used to be sure of—running down and out like a sink someone forgot to turn off. So I let that feeling onto the panel. The colors pour. The objects pile up the way a life does.

But the face in the center never washes away. She holds her gaze. She’s still here, still strong, still entirely herself underneath all of it. That’s the part I wanted to keep: not the loss, but the woman who’s still standing in the middle of it, looking right back at you.
