đź’™ Hearts and Pages
A Compassionate Mission for Literacy, Creativity, and Connection
A 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization
Hearts and Pages began with one small gesture—installing a Little Free Library at Lenoir City Central Park in 2020. My daughter Michal lovingly filled it with the first 100 children’s books, hoping to make reading more accessible to families who may not have time for the public library or the means to manage late fees. What we didn’t know then was how deeply this small box would touch lives—or how it would grow into something so much more.
Since then, we’ve stocked more than 7,500 free books, averaging around 50 books each week. These stories have made their way into the hands of children at the park—no library card required, no questions asked. Just the quiet magic of reading, available to anyone, any time.
From that single library, Hearts and Pages was born.
📚 Our Mission
Hearts and Pages is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to serve children and women through literacy, creativity, and compassionate connection. We believe access to books, stories, and self-expression has the power to restore hope, build confidence, and change lives.
📚 What We Do
-
Maintain and stock Little Free Library #129371 located in one of the largest and most visited parks in East Tennessee—Lenoir City Central Park. We refill it weekly with high-quality, gently used children’s books to promote reading access for all.
-
Host seasonal art workshops where kids are free to get messy, explore their creativity, and have fun—no rules, no pressure, just joyful expression.
-
Support moms and caregivers by sharing free books, creative kits, and moments of encouragement—reminding them they’re not alone and they matter.
🧡 Why It Matters
Hearts and Pages was created out of the same place my art was born—a need to heal, to serve, and to bring beauty into broken places. Through my work as an artist at Lois Trader Art, I discovered a deeper well of compassion, one that continues to grow with every sculpture and every story shared. Whether it’s through a book, a piece of art, or a heartfelt conversation, I believe stories can restore us. They remind us we’re not alone.
A child with a book in their hand is a child with a new possibility—a doorway to wonder, confidence, and hope.
