Description

This piece immediately captures attention with surreal and intense imagery, drawing the viewer into an unsettling and mesmerizing world. I wanted the vivid, almost cosmic background to create an otherworldly atmosphere, setting the stage for the figure’s striking features. The exaggerated facial details and skeletal hands add to the sense of distortion, making the piece feel like it’s emerging from a dream—or perhaps a nightmare—where reality is slipping away.

In creating the face, I used color and texture to convey a sense of chaos and inner turmoil. The layers suggest a struggle beneath the surface, where identity is fragmented or lost as if the self is being pulled in different directions. The skeletal hands covering the mouth evoke a feeling of silence or restraint, hinting at a suppressed need to express something that cannot find its voice. It’s as if the figure is trapped in a moment where words are either too dangerous or difficult to speak.

With this piece, I wanted to explore themes of hidden emotions and the fear of losing oneself. It’s a visual representation of those times when we feel disconnected from who we are, when our thoughts and feelings swirl together in a chaotic blend, just out of reach. I hope viewers can find a part of their own experiences reflected in the piece and feel the tension between wanting to break free and the weight of holding back.
