Description

Standing over 30 inches tall, this sculpture captures a profound emotional journey that I’ve shaped with meticulous detail and brought to life with a lustrous golden texture. I wanted the figure to embody a woman lost in deep thought, her posture suggesting the weight of a heavy burden—a burden of concern, worry, and perhaps even sorrow. Yet, there is more to her stance than struggle; if you look closely, there is a subtle but unmistakable glimmer of hope. It’s a quiet, resilient strength that speaks to the perseverance of the human spirit, even when faced with uncertainty.

The choice of the gold finish was intentional, as it enhances the duality within the piece. On one hand, the gold symbolizes the weight of her thoughts, a metallic sheen that suggests something heavy and unyielding. On the other hand, it evokes the idea of something precious and invaluable—the nature of hope that shines through even in the darkest moments. The way the light interacts with the surface brings out different facets, almost as if the sculpture itself is alive, shifting between moments of despair and glimmers of optimism.

Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on the complexities of the human condition. It’s a piece that seeks to capture the delicate balance between feeling overwhelmed by life’s burdens and finding the courage to hold on to hope. I hope that as people look at this sculpture, they can see a bit of their struggles mirrored in her form and perhaps find comfort in the resilience that endures within us all.
